ABOUT US
The California “Junior Claybreakers” (Oaktree Junior Claybreakers) is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization. We are a Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) club and compete in both SCTP and AIM (Academics, Integrity and Markmanship, a youth program from the ATA). Our mission is to help young athletes reach their highest potential by becoming the best athlete and young adult both on and off the field. We have been actively competing for the past twenty plus years and have won titles at both the State and National SCTP Championships.
Our goal is to introduce school-age youths in College grades and under (the majority being 12th grade and under) to the clay target sport of American Trap shooting. We provide a positive and supportive program for assisting young shooters in their growth and development as they become productive and contributing members of society. We provide young shooters the opportunity to safely participate in a high-quality, team based sport led by trained and dedicated volunteer adult coaches that are focused on helping their young shooters become the best they are capable of becoming.
Competition is clearly a part of our program; but it is not the underlying principle. We strive to win while playing by the rules, exhibiting good sportsmanship and being reasonable team members. Our Coaches and Parents set good examples for our young Shooters by upholding high moral and ethical standards of personal conduct and require the same from our Shooters. It is not about winning, but helping our youth learn life lessons from their experiences while competing.
Our Shooters pay only actual target fees and rely on fund raising events, grants and donations from Local Business, Organizations and Individuals for the balance of our program costs. The additional funds we raise are Safety Equipment & Training, NRA Marksmanship Program Materials, Shooting Logs, Cleaning Kits, Shoot Entrance Fees and travel to national competitions.
We practice on Wednesday nights at 7:00 at Oaktree Gun Club. Please feel free to come by and observe our program. All interested junior shooters are welcome to join our group.
